Hot...Hot...Hot!

Today the heat index was close to 100 degrees but we did get out and find the shade.  I packed the water bowl and a wash cloth to cool her down.  Lucy just doesn't like the heat, so we weren't out long.  I wanted her to get out because she should use her muscles instead of sleeping all day!  When we got inside, she had a bath...which she also doesn't like!  The way she rolls around and shakes just makes me laugh.  Then she goes under the bed and back out again...stretching and rolling she just cracks me up!  And if Oliver were here, they would both be chasing around.  I miss those days.

Wet Lucy ...

Rolling it all out!

Heading for cover...she takes a sharp left turn.

Under

U-Turn!
And it starts all over again.... and I am happy because she is exercising!

Stricker's Pond

I have never seen Stricker's Pond so flooded by rain before.

Lucy sniffs down the ducks!

Ducks swim where kids play ball.

The path was closed on both sides so you couldn't walk around the park.  The pond flooded right over into the playing field.  We have had a lot of rain!

Memories...

Walking Stricker's Park last fall with Oliver.

We miss you so much Honey Man!

The Breeze

Lucy is a lucky lady now days.  She gets to sit on Mike's lap and sniff all the wonderful scents in the city air while I drive.  When the weather permits, she gets to run errands with us.  Wexford Park was our destination where Lucy continued sniffing.  There should be good thought waves going through her brain...

The higher up Lucy is...the happier she is :)

Hold on to that peanut or buckle her in!  Gotta Love her.

Blog Picture

The picture of Lucy in our blog frame was a kodak moment.  I never positioned her for that photo shoot.  She woke up and started popping up out of the covers.  I was so lucky to have the camera close by.  Lucy won't sleep in bed anymore without Oliver...she just does not want to be there.

July 4th

Union Terrace

The union terrace was a wonderful place to be on July 4th.  It wasn't too crowed and finding a place to sit was fairly easy in the shade or sun.  It was a beautiful day.

The fireworks didn't bother Lucy as much this year, thank goodness!  The benefits of hearing loss, I guess.  There's a lot of fireworks in our area which extends throughout the whole week of July 4th.  Fireworks are everywhere and every night.  We always say..Where's that fireworks coming from??

Another July 4th behind us Lucy!

Stella & Chewy's
Lucy really likes the switch in her dog food, I am so happy about that.  Do you know what Lucy does when she wants to eat?  She pulls her dish over to you hoping her dish will be filled.  Lucy is a smart communicator.  She learned a lot of her antics from Oliver.  When Oliver wanted food, he would tap.  She picked up everything from Oliver except quick pottie training.  It took 3 months to pottie train Oliver, it took 3 years to pottie train Lucy!!  I won't be too hard on Lucy though because she always looked out after Oliver.  If he needed something she would come running to us barking.  We knew something was up.

Stella & Chewy's

This stinker got a hair cut!
Thanks to Katie @ Westie Julep blog, today Lucy is going to get her food changed from Oliver's diabetic food to food that has a better rating!!  I'm going to see if she will like Stella & Chewy's freeze-dried food.  Lucy always wanted Oliver's food so we just decided to let her eat it, but the food issue has been bothering me for quite awhile.  I dropped Luce off for her hair appointment and then I went dog food shopping with my ratings list.

After Lucy's appointment, we stopped at Fireman's Park for a walk.  I like the shade of the big Oak trees.  Every time we visit a park, I like to identify the trees...I want to know specifically which oak they are so  I think it's a good idea from now on to let my identification books go for a ride with us. Lucy had a little fun with 3 younger children playing on the equipment and now she is sleeping under her ottoman.

Tonight there will be fireworks and we are not looking forward in hearing them and neither will Lucy!!

ophthalmology

Today Lucy had an eye appointment at the U.W. Veterinary Care.  We loaded up and off we went.  Lucy has been taking eye drops to help her tear production for about a year.  We learned from Oliver that eye ulcers are not fun so we avoid them at all costs!  While we were in the waiting room we ran into a young male westie, maybe 2 years old and he wasn't neutered...he had a collar around his head...beautiful little guy...just lifted my spirits.  Lucy had a good report on her tear production and her cornea looked great with no scratches.  That's a terrific report for a 13 year old Yorkie!  A terrific report on a terrific weather day...what more could you ask for?
